Klosterman Bread Giveaway

by Katie on February 27, 2013

Klosterman Baking Company, a family-owned bakery headquartered in Cincinnati, wrapped up its Pink Ribbon Loaves campaign benefiting The Pink Ribbon Girls, on October 31st 2012.  In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Klosterman Baking Company donated $0.10 to The Pink Ribbon Girls for every Pink Ribbon Loaf sold throughout the month of October. In its first year, the campaign saw great success by raising $7,500 for the Pink Ribbon Girls.  In the first week alone 30,000 loaves were sold.

“We are thrilled to see such success with this campaign in its first year,” said Kim Klosterman, CEO, Klosterman Baking Company. 100% of the proceeds raised went to The Pink Ribbon Girls, an outreach mission aimed to provide breast cancer awareness to young women. With the proceeds raised, they aim to launch new educational and support efforts to expand young women’s knowledge on breast cancer.  “It is great to see companies such as Klosterman’s get involved with important causes and we were thrilled to partner with them for the Pink Ribbon Loaves donation campaign,” shared Tracie Metzger, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Pink Ribbon Girls.  “Support like this is vital to expanding our efforts and reaching the younger community of women that need education on Breast Cancer Awareness.”

Founded over 100 years ago, Klosterman Baking Company has grown to be one of the largest family-owned bakeries in the Midwest. Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Klosterman Baking Company provides fresh hearth breads, rolls and a variety of other bakery items to more than 4,000 restaurants, grocery stores, hospitals and schools in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. $25 Frisch’s Gift Card Giveaway

by Katie on February 26, 2013

Now that Lent has officially begun, many families (including ours!) are looking for meatless meal ideas on Friday.  While we have a number of meatless meals that I enjoy making during the Lenten season, it’s nice to occasionally enjoy a meal that doesn’t require cleaning up a kitchen afterwards.

Frisch’s is offering customers a wide variety of meatless meal ideas, including the new Haddock Fillet Dinner which is only available through Lent.  The special Haddock Fillet Dinner features a whole fillet of North Atlantic haddock that is hand breaded and fried to order in stores daily. The four- to six-ounce piece of plump and flaky fish is served with two sides and Frisch’s famous tartar sauce.

In addition to new Haddock Fillet Dinner and the classic Fish Sandwich, Frisch’s serves a variety of meals that are perfect for those observing Lent, including fish and chips, whitefish, shrimp, tuna melts, macaroni and cheese, and the always-popular grilled cheese sandwich made with Frisch’s homemade bread. Frisch’s also makes its own New England Clam Chowder and it’s only available during the Lenten season.

Have I whet your appetite yet?  Frisch’s would like to give one of my readers a night off from cooking by giving them a Frisch’s Gift Pack that includes:

  • Jar of Frisch’s Famous Tartar Sauce

Living in a household with five other family members guarantees a certain level of chaos and clutter.  In order to minimize our clutter and maintain an orderly home, I have found it imperative to have a systematic cleaning routine in place.

For years, I have made my own cleaning charts, and have even color-coded them according to each family member’s chores and responsibilities (see, I told you I had a type A tendency!).  However, I would inevitably forget certain tasks that needed to be completed on a routine basis – things like cleaning light fixtures, scrubbing out the stove, or working on larger projects such as the attic or the storage shed.

When I would discover the items that had been neglected from my list, I often felt the need to revamp the system to include those newly added chores.  This would create another time-consuming project, and would often leave me feeling frustrated about the system in its entirety.

Last year, as I was searching the internet for new organizational strategies, I stumbled across the Motivated Moms website.  I have to admit, I was completely floored by the simplicity and thoroughness of their system.  These chore planning systems cut through the chaos of housework, and enable you to focus on your family, while maintaining some semblance of sanity!

The Motivated Moms planners are available as either a printable ebook, or as an app for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android.  There’s a full-page edition that includes a space for appointments, notes, and a box for planning that day’s menu.  You can also choose the Bible version that includes daily scheduled readings, enabling you to read through the Bible in a year.

This planner is truly a lifesaver for me.  It helps me remain organized, and enables me to keep track of the items that need to maintained in our household throughout the year.  I also love the accountability of the scheduled Bible readings.  While I typically read the Bible on the daily basis, this creates a clear-cut plan for each day, making it a simple part of my routine.

The apps are priced at $7.99 each, and the ebooks are $8.  For the next two weeks, if you enter the promotional code CENTS at checkout, you’ll receive $1 off the purchase of any Motivated Moms ebook, bringing your total down to just $7.

As an added bonus, Motivated Moms is giving away a 2013 planner to one of my readers who will have the choice of either an ebook version or the app for the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.  Want to win?  You have six ways to enter this giveaway:

$75 Target Gift Card Giveaway

by Katie on December 21, 2012

From hosting holiday gatherings and enjoying a game day around the Christmas tree to stocking stuffers and holiday decor, Target is the one-stop shop that has a little bit of everything for this year’s holiday shopping list.  With aisles specifically dedicated to holiday shopping, Target makes it easy to zip into your local store, find everything on your list, and head back out while still whistling your favorite Christmas tune.

It’s our family’s tradition to enjoy at least one game day over the course of the Christmas holiday.  The kids pull out all of their favorite board games, and we spend the day playing games and munching on all of our favorite snacks.  So this week, accompanied by our three boys, I set out for Target to pick up a few items for our family’s game day.

We perused the items in the grocery aisles, trying to choose a few snacks from the wide assortment of items available at Target.  Since our kiddos have very different opinions on what snacks are their favorites, it was convenient to have so many options to choose from.  While most people might not consider Archer Farms butter toffee popcorn, Milano cookies, and Starburst candy canes to be a likely mix, it suited our children perfectly!

Once our cart was brimming with snacks (I couldn’t help throwing in some bagels and apples to help offset some of the sugar!), we set out for the aisle of games.  Our boys immediately spotted the Logo Game, which they’ve been wanting to play for quite some time as well as Bop It Smash.  Now, as a side note, I had not even heard of Bop It Smash until this week, and I wrote it off as being solely a kids’ game that I would be unlikely to play….however, that is not the case.  I’m still in the midst of trying to beat my son’s high score!

Back at home, the boys showed all of our finds to their little sister, who was wide-eyed at all the surprises we had found.  I’d love to say that all the snacks made it until our game day today, but I’m afraid that some of the popcorn is mysteriously missing, and I’m pretty sure I only counted three bottle of Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino!

To help your family celebrate during the holiday season, Target would like to offer one of my readers the chance to win a $75 Target Gift Card.  Want to win?  You have six ways to enter this giveaway:

  1. Leave a comment on this post – what holiday items (grocery or otherwise) does your family still need to pick up before Christmas?  This is a required entry!

Erin Condren Products Review & Giveaway

by Katie on December 17, 2012

Towards the end of last year, I was in a frantic search for a new planner that would accommodate the needs of our household.  Now, it may sound extreme to be pursuing the perfect planner….however, between homeschooling 3 of our kids, taking our oldest to high school, working part-time, blogging full-time, and taking our kids to a variety of activities (youth club, baseball, karate, cheer, dance….), I need a system to keep everything in place.

I’ve tried the whole “virtual” calendar online and on my phone, but I am such a visual person, that I just can’t “see” it without a paper planner.  And I like having a planner that does it all – a way to keep track of appointments and schedules, a place to take notes and jot down “to do” lists, somewhere to store papers, notes, etc…..is that to much to ask of a planner?!

As I dove into my online search for a planner, I stumbled across the Erin Condren website. And I knew that I had found IT….my planner.  The Life Planner had everything I needed and suited my needs perfectly.  Both the front and back covers of the planner are heavily laminated, enabling it to last through months of flipping through pages and event planning.

The inside of the planner is so vibrant with splashes of color, designs, and quotes.  Of the many features, the most notable include:

  • snap-in page holder/bookmark that doubles as a ruler
  • spiral bound & lays flat when open
  • special dates calendar for birthdays and anniversaries
  • laminated monthly tabs
  • your choice of start month
  • double page monthly spread
  • weekly double page spreads
  • 18 lined pages for notes
  • 10 blank pages for notes
  • customizable important numbers list
  • important addresses page
  • 180 colorful special events stickers
  • 60 colorful blank stickers
  • flat zip lock pouch for photos, receipts, coupons, etc.
  • folder to keep together loose papers

You also have the option of customizing your planner with photos on the front and back cover.  Plus, if you want to add on other fun accessories, there are a number to choose from, including photo stickers, colorful ballpoint pens, and matching note pads.

The Erin Condren line does include other items besides the planner as well – notebooks, calendars, recipes cards & boxes, stationery, address labels, gift labels, note pads, invitations, announcements, and more.  The site is fun look through, and is very user friendly.

Erin Condren would like to offer one of my readers a $25 credit for the product of their choice on the Erin Condren site.  Want to win?  You have six ways to enter this giveaway:
